Hi,

I am a bit of a noob when it comes to Posterous. I have used Wordpress before and have gained at least some experience in adapting templates to my liking and modifying CSS files.
Now in Posterous I am pretty happy with the standard theme, I like the simplicity but I would like to change a few things, especially the width of the sidebar. Now it seems whenever I change any reference to the sidebar in the code of the template something gets messed up. I did this by trial and error...changing a number, reloading the page, see what happens etc.

Everytime I change the size of the sidebar sth. else gets messed up. Is there any simple way to change the sidebar or could somebody lead me to the reference in the template file that I need to change?

Ideally I would like to change bot the width of the sidebar and also the main content area...make it a bit wider. So both of these i was able to change.....but not without affecting something else.

I have been to that link before and I have read through it but that post is more about explaining the templating system of posterous and it lets you add and remove certain content and content block to the different pages like your homepage, sidebar, single post page etc.

It does not however explain where in the posterous standard theme template to change the values for sidebar width and main contant width for example, what I tried to do. Those are a bit different things. If I am wrong, maybe you can point me to the line where this is explained as I cannot see it. Anybody else?

You might have to adjust multiple widths. For example, if the container has a width of 700 and there are two blocks inside of that at 500px and 200px, you'll not only need to adjust the column you want to widen, but also it's parent div. Do what you can and then post a link to code (or an example of your problem) that we can see and we can help from there.
